Random Act of Kindness

I was late for work because I watched the NBA finals. Before the 4th Quarter started, I had to leave the house, even though I was dying to see up to the last second of the game. That time, CAVs was leading and I was feeling so down 'coz I’m a fan of GSW.

I booked a Grab car and when I went down, it was waiting for me. The traffic was a little bad and the driver was using Waze to get me faster to my destination. Finally, I arrived. My bill was Php 179. I gave Php 200 to the driver, but he said he won’t accept it. He asked me to give him just 1 peso, instead, as a lucky charm. Pampaswerte, he said. Whoa! I couldn’t believe it myself. I insisted to pay my exact bill, or at least 100 pesos, but he declined to accept it. So I just gave him 1 peso as he requested and thanked him profusely.

My day just brightened up.

Little surprises and random acts of kindness like this can lift a melancholic spirit, a reminder to spread love and joy whenever we can because we wouldn’t know how big it will make a difference to someone who’s just having a bad day or to someone who’s lost all hope to live.

A Quick Escape from the City

If you're looking for somewhere to spend the long weekend with your loved ones, try the Amazing View Mountain Resort in Mabitac, Laguna. Yes, I know it sounds so far away...but it's just 2 hrs from Cubao via Antipolo.

It was a bit chilly and cloudy when we headed out so it made the land travel very light and endurable. (I really don't like travelling when it's too hot, that's why I prefer travelling at  night when I go home to our province.) Also, the scenery on the mountainous road of Rizal is such a beauty; I was really in awe.

On the way to Mabitac, we passed by the Wind Farm of Pililla, Rizal. It was awesome to find these windmills here in Rizal.

The Wind Farm is fast becoming a tourist attraction in Pililla, Rizal.
Just several minutes more and we've arrived at Amazing View Mountain Resort in in Mabitac, Laguna.

Bahay kubo, kahit munti, ang halaman doon ay sari-sari...

The nipa huts or bahay kubo can accommodate up to 4 persons. It's like going back to the old days, but with a modern bathroom, which is great, and a mosquito net, too.

Cool down by dipping in the pool.

There are also obstacle courses for team-building.

And a basketball court, too.

Best part in our travel here is the delicious food. We had authentic Ilonggo dishes. (The owners of the resort are Ilonggo.)

We had fruits for dessert, freshly-picked from their own farm. The papaya and banana (my first time to see one that's not yellow or green) is really, really sweet.

After lunch, we were so full we wanted to lie down and sleep. But, of course, we didn't. We walked, instead, to the viewpoint to burn all the calories and see the "amazing view" the resort is named after.

The place is also teeming with fruit-bearing trees. We were toured by no less than the owner, himself.

It was, indeed, an amazing view up here.

All in all, we had a great time here at Amazing View Mountain Resort. The peaceful ambiance is really relaxing and refreshing. I wish to go back here soon and bring my friends with me. :)

Go out and live your life!

Joycelyne Melegrito in Hong Kong Disneyland
At Hong Kong Disneyland.

The year has just started and I think it's not yet too late to do my New Year's Resolution. Do kids these days still do theirs?

I think I want to be more outgoing this year, to travel and go out of my comfort zone.

Thus, my mantra for this year: "Go out and live your life!"

Yes, there's more to life than work. So, for this year, I wanna test my limits. I wanna know what else I can do; where else I can go.

Let's do this!
